OUR LADY OF TEARS OF BLOOD
Day 236: January 03
Our Lady of Tears of Blood, Maròpati, Reggio Calabria, Italy
Because of the blasphemies against the most holy name of Jesus and Mary and other grave sins ... Our Lady of the Rosary of Tears of Blood has been crying for over 40 years!
The small village where blasphemy happened openly, has now become a place of Marian worship where the Holy Rosary is recited every day. The Municipal Secretary of Maròpati, C. Laganà, writes: "The prodigious event of Maròpati is a shocking Marian explosion – as never happened elsewhere – of bloody pain and immense pity".
Maròpati is a town 12 km from the railway station and the motorway of Rosarno (Reggio Calabria), it has 1,500 souls. A humble person, a secular Franciscan, very faithful to the Bishop and the Parish Priest, who suffers and prays day and night, was Our Lady's confidant. In a letter to his Spiritual Director Fr Alfonso Di Bartolo (already twice Provincial Superior of the Calabrian Capuchins) he warned that the Virgin would give evident signs to draw attention to the many sins and very serious offenses against her son Jesus (and to the infidelity of some priests).
He stated: "In Maròpati, in the house of the lawyer Cordiano, the Virgin, in one of her images, will shed abundant tears of blood". Well, after 26 days, here is the cry of blood in Cordiano's house, in the rest room, from a painting of Our Lady of the Rosary (69 x 99). The pillow of the bed of the lawyer was also stained. Cordiano was a Marxist mayor for 12 years and since he was a boy he has always lived without religious practice. For several months he tried to hide the blood phenomena that were repeated. He was converted to Jesus only after a year. He died piously in 1986, visited and blessed by the Bishop.
The bleeding of the Image, since January 3, 1971 (the feast of the Most Holy Name of Jesus), has always been repeated, at irregular periods, several times every year, for all these 40 years, and still continues.
St Justin Russolillo Writes...
"Oh, how I wish and want to know, with your mind, the Lord God, in His Persons, in His Church, in every soul; I wish and desire to love Him in your heart; I wish and desire to serve Him with your life and unite myself to Him with the relationship of Spouse of the Trinity; may this relationship of Spouse of the Trinity be for me, as it was for you, the relationship of Mother of God!"
